Compass Card Expiration Look Up:

Verify your Compass Card expiration date by entering the 16-digit number (no spaces) found on the bottom right, on the back side of your card.

Before your current Compass Card expires (or if your card has already expired), please contact the Compass Service Center at 619-595-5636 to determine the best way to transfer your pass balance to a new card. You may also visit the MTS Transit Store for faster replacement processing.

Did You Know?

  • Compass Cards have a limited life span of up to ten years. Many Compass Cards include a ‘Recommended Replace By Date’ printed on the back of the card. The link above can verify the true expiration date of the physical card. If you see an “expired” notice on platform validators or bus fareboxes, or if your card isn’t being accepted at Ticket Vending Machines, it may be time for a replacement.

  • The expiration date of the Compass Card is not the same as the expiration date of a pass loaded on the Compass Card.

  • Register your Compass Card to protect your pass balance against loss, theft, damage, or expiration. Call the Compass Service Center at 619-595-5636, or fill out a registration form and submit it to MTS by fax, e-mail, or mail.
